Generate a test script

Convert a recording into a ready-to-run test file.

node bin/generate.js recording.json --out my-flow.spec.js
npx playwright test my-flow.spec.js

The output is plain code you can edit and commit.

Secrets and files

Generated scripts never contain passwords or uploads. They read them from environment variables named in the script, for example BUGTRAIL_SECRET_PASSWORD and BUGTRAIL_UPLOAD_CV.

Session values

To embed cookies and storage values, add --with-session.

WARNING

Session values may be secrets. Do not commit a script generated with --with-session to a shared repository.

Limits

Only one script format is supported today.
